Communications Drilling
Specialist Drilling Sevices Victoria
Reliable communication towers start with strong, accurately drilled foundations. EDC Australia specialises in foundation drilling for telecommunications infrastructure across Australia, delivering precise, engineered bores designed to support monopoles, lattice towers, and high load communication structures.
Our team understands the strict requirements of tower installations from depth accuracy and bore stability to ground conditions and geotechnical specifications. Using advanced drilling equipment, we create clean, consistent foundations that ensure long term structural integrity for NBN towers, mobile networks, emergency services communications, and private telecommunication systems.
We work efficiently across metro, regional, and remote sites, managing challenging terrain, hard rock, and variable soil conditions with ease. Every foundation bore is completed to engineering standards, ensuring safe installation, reduced downtime, and dependable performance for critical communication infrastructure.
We use industry best practices and customised equipment for drilling basalt efficiently with our owned and operated machinery:
Sedimentary
- Sedimentary rocks are made when small pieces of minerals or plants build up and get pressed together over time. They often form in layers called strata. Common examples are sandstone, limestone, mudstone, siltstone and shale.
Igneous
- Igneous rocks form volcanic activity when hot, melted rock called magma or lava cools and hardens. If it cools slowly underground, large crystals form, like in some types of granite. If it cools quickly on the surface, the crystals are small, like in basalt.
Auger
- An auger is a drilling tool used on machinery to bore holes into the ground. It features a spiral-shaped blade that rotates to lift soil out as it drills. Augers can be custom made to suit a variety of ground conditions ranging from sand and clays and to hard rock.
Core Barrel
- A core barrel is designed specifically for drilling for hard / dense rock. It is engineered to cut by grinding in a precise circular path, while resulting in the extraction of a solid cylindrical core.
